Each set is made of seven flags, with each flag roughly 12″ squared*. The set stretches out to 93″ from end to end. High quality strings attach the flags.  The flags have generous lengths of string on each end, so it’s easy to hang them anywhere.

Batik is an ancient process of drawing on fabric with wax. The wax resists dye from absorbing into the fabric. That results in the white lines which make up the basis of the designs. Then usually, the artist next submerses the fabric in dye. In the case of our more complex designs, the process is different. The artist lays the cloth out flat, and then paints the colors on with a brush. Every step of the process is hand-done. The designs are not printed.

Because each piece is hand painted, there are slight variations. This means that your order of batik art is unique.

Her workshop is a woman-owned business. Other than her husband, who works for her, all of her workers are women.
